Musique artisanale (Duo Lagrange/Rutkowski)

Gaël (uilleann pipes/16" french bagpipes) and Sébastien (chromatic accordion) have been playing Irish music together for years, in particular with Blackwater. But their roots in the Morvan have moreover always brought them back to the Middle of France repertoire. Gaël is excellent playing musette. Here's an instrumental CD in which their skill, technique and the fun they share while playing, explore, as they often do in popular dances, a traditional dancing music from the Morvan, Auvergne, Ireland, in which they mix their own compositions. It is a personal interpretation by two musicians who both have a specific career. They offer their contribution and tribute to a region and its musical repertoire. Their work, as you may see on their website, could be compared to that of the Galvachers, these men from the Morvan who escorted horned animals and often travelled far to unload tree-trunks or transport goods. Like them, "such musicians from bygone days, learn new pieces while they travel and bring them back home." Claude Ribouillault (Trad magazine)
