Ephémèra (Jacques Pellen)

Marked by the aesthetics of John McLaughlin and Pat Metheny as Dan Ar Braz, Jacques Pellen, from Brest, is one of the most interesting jazz guitarists Breton. His music here, as on his previous album, is a mixture of progressive and Celtic influences, which became his trademark since his debut in the Celtic Procession collective. In superlative bigarée company (a Hungarian, two Italians, etc.), the master of ceremonies serves passionately gwerz, blues beautifully sings Erik Marchand - we can also hear the air Annie Ebrel. As Riccardo del Fra bassist and trumpeter Paolo Fresu (very inspired by Miles Davis), they are far from playing utilities. The set ends with a passionate reading of "Mr. Tambourine Man" by Bob Dylan. --
