Welcome to the consignor space of Albumtrad. If you are here, it is because you want to know how to place your albums on consignment on our site.
It’s very simple :
We take your CDs on consignment, offer them for sale on this site, and pay your royalties once your albums are sold. On our site, the public selling price of a disc is always 12,50 €. albumtrad receives 36%, the consignor, 64% (8€ by album).
Concretely :
Fill out our on-line registration form here, it will permit us to simplify the referencing of your album. You will receive an e-mail of confirmation of registration.
Then, you will find our contracts here, read them carefully, print them and fill them out in duplicate.
Send us 6 CDs (5 for the sale and one which you give to us for the digitalization) with contracts signed in duplicate.

A personal account allows you to know in real time the number of sold items as well as the geographical zone of the sale.
3) The interface of sale
Discs on our site are highlighted (an extract of every single title can be listened to, a legible sleeve, the list of the musicians and guests, liner notes, your internet links, a bilingual interface…)
4) The prices
The attractive selling price and your royalties which are comparable to those paid by a distributor.
Simple : sales usually involves 3 participants : the producer, the distributor, the salesman. With our system, we eliminate the intermediary ; we are at the same time a distributor and a salesman. We pass the savings on the customers.
Our philosophy is clear : we don't ask at what price we can sell discs but at what price people can afford to buy them… The current economic situation obliges...
No problem, we do not ask for exclusivity. Re-read your contract with your distributor, verify that you did not sign any clause of exclusivity and hup ! A larger number of venues where your disc is available means better sales and greater fame : isn't that your ultimate aim ? The classical distributors are effective in a market which is different from ours. Remind yourselves that our site specializes in Trad/Acoustic/Folk/Word musics !
For us, your album has no life expectancy. If a customer discovers your last album and likes it, he will want to know all your albums. Still, he'll need to be able to find them… For us, music is timeless and has no ‘best before date’ !
To sell a disc, people need to know that the disc is for sale. Did you ever enter a shop to buy a certain item and finally leave with 3 others. On a website, the principle is the same. It is why we offer an effective and coherent system of navigation and a lot audio excerpts to listen to to help with sales. Moreover, mail-order selling is a big job with many constraints. All artists are not necessarily ready and equipped for that...
We make no qualitative choice, everybody has the right to exist and to propose his music. The only criterion is to fit into the musical styles which we propose : folk song, traditional music, acoustic music. Naturally, the mixing of genres exist and we are not cultural arbitrators who'll reject a disc because there are electric guitars on 2 tracks of the album. If you have any doubts, contact us and we'll discuss it !
The main reason is obviously a lack of money ; we do not have enough investment to maintain a stock of several hundred CDs... But at Albumtrad, no surprise and no return of unsold articles ! You consign us 5 discs (entrusted, not given, even if they are at our office, they still belong to you and you can get them back whenever you want to). When sold, we ask for 10 more from you, then 20, etc… You thus avoid having a lot of stock tied up and the money you gained, you keep it !
It is useful for us to collect directly the information which will have to appear on your page of sale. However, we reserve the right to make some modifications to the descriptive text of albums, as well as on the classifications of the latter. If you notice changes with which you don't agree, don't hesitate to contact us !

When 5 albums are sold, we ask you for an invoice. The simplest is to send one by e-mail. It must include : the date, name and address of the society / association / individual who gets the royalties, number of the sold articles at Albumtrad, as well as the total price. You will find an example of an invoice here. Once we receive the invoice, we make a bank transfer on the account (thanks to the references you gave us).
