Two suites by Kristian Blak : Heygar og Dreygar (1983) : Ernst Dalsgarð (fl), John Tchicai (s), Lennart Kullgren (g), Kristian Blak (p), Anders Jormin (b), Karin Korpelainen (dr, perc) Heygar og Dreygar contains seven tracks composed by Kristian Blak. Each tune is an aural painting that conjures up unreal, fabulous creatures, dwarfs and witches living on these magical islands. In addition to the well-known reedman John Tchicai, this record features two more wonderful musicians - flutist Dalsgarð with his fresh original folk sound and bassist Jormin, who delivers both a solid beat and beutifully melodic solos. (Alexander Ivansky, Jazz Forum, Poland)
The Four Towers (1985) : Anders Hagberg (fl, ts), John Tchicai (ts, bcl, ss), Lennart Kullgren (g), Kristian Blak (p), Anders Jormin (b), Karin Korpelainen (dr, perc), Sharon Weiss (crumhorn) "The Four Towers" is music composed by Kristian Blak for the Icelandic National Ballet. The music and the ballet was inspired by the poem "Barnetegning" (childs drawing) by William Heinesen. The ballet was staged in the Nordic House in September 1989.
