The Israeli Andalusian Orchestra and its resident soloist Lior Elmaleh, together with the Canzona Choir and pianist Maurice El Medioni, have produced a wonderful, unique and varied album.
The CD includes works in different styles from a variety of interrelated sources, such as the Andalusian ala, Algerian songs and Moroccan shaabi ("folk") songs. One of Lior Elmaleh's most popular shaabi performances, his interpretation of Rock of My Preservation, has been re-arranged and recorded for the first time on this album.
This CD illustrates Elmaleh's ability to sing in a variety of styles, all enhanced by his vocal virtuosity and by Dr. Avi Eilam-Amzallag's
wonderful arrangements. The Andalusian Orchestra is accompanied by Maurice El Medioni, the fine Andalusian pianist, and by the Canzona Choir - a classical ensemble performing with the orchestra for the first time.

Lior Elmaleh, who has been the Israeli Andalusian Orchestra's resident soloist for a number of years, is one of the leading representatives of the new generation of performers of Andalusian music.
Born in 1974 in Kiryat Shmona, he studied classical Andalusian song - and the bakkashot ("petitions") in particular - with Nissim Shoshan, the famous exponent of liturgical music.
A highly accomplished singer, Elmaleh possesses a vocal quality unique among Israeli performers, and, despite his young age, he is considered an extremely experienced interpreter of the many and varied types of Andalusian song.
Warm, vibrant and Middle Eastern - on this CD he displays his talents in a wide variety of styles.
